Pearl Farms

Pearl farms can be found in isolated bays and atolls.  Typically pearl farms are single-story structures built on stilts over unspoiled waters.  Pearl farms are strategically placed in beautiful, pristine waters where there is little or no trace of human contamination.  Unfortunately, there are only a few places like this left in the world.

Water quality is one of the most important factors of successful pearl cultivation.  Clean, fresh seawater provides nutrients for oysters and prevents contamination from pollution or infection from viruses which can affect pearl quality.  Most pearls are harvested in saltwater, with the exception of freshwater pearls which are grown in riverbeds and streams.
